Walk the Line

After I watched this show, I'm now totally convinced Joaquin Phoenix should get the Academy Award for best actor. Not even Philip Seymour Hoffman's squeaky voiced performance of Capote could measure up.

Reese Witherspoon gave a good performance but I thought there was no way her performance measured up to his in terms of emotional resonance and power.

But then maybe I shouldn't speak too soon, I've yet to watch Capote after all and the trailers did sound promising. Also, the Academy has a habit of giving away prizes to those who portray people with disability/deformity which a squeaky voice might just qualify as.

But of course to a sucker for romance like me, the movie where the guy chases the girl for something like ten years accompanied by his smokin' hot voice will always beat the thriller.
Before, Johnny Cash died, Coldplay actually wanted him to sing one of their songs from the album X&Y and it would've been incredibly appropriate for him and for June Carter Cash. Sadly, he died before he could do that which is a huge pity, especially since it could have been even better than his cover of Nine Inch Nail's Hurt.

Still, here are the lyrics to Til Kingdom Come by Coldplay just because I felt like it.

Til Kingdom Come

Steal my heart and hold my tongue
I feel my time, my time has come
Let me in, unlock the door
I've never felt this way before

And the wheels just keep on turning
The drummer begins to drum
I don't know which way I'm going
I don't know which way I've come

Hold my head inside your hands
I need someone who understands
I need someone, someone who hears
For you, I've waited all these years

For you I'd wait 'til kingdom come
Until my day, my day is done
And say you'll come and set me free
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me

In your tears and in your blood
In your fire and in your flood
I hear you laugh, I heard you sing
I wouldn't change a single thing

And the wheels just keep on turning
The drummers begin to drum
I don't know which way I'm going
I don't know what I'll become

For you I'd wait 'til kingdom come
Until my days, my days are done
And say you'll come and set me free
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.

Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me
